ISO55001 Awareness Training

One of the biggest problems in Asset Management (AM) is the lack of understanding of what it actually involves and what the impacts might be of doing it well, or poorly.

ISO55001 requires ‘Persons doing work under the organisation’s control, who can have an impact on the achievement of the asset management objectives’ to be: aware of the organisation’s AM policy; their contribution to the effectiveness of AM; relevant risks; and the implications of them not fulfilling their obligations in meeting the requirements of the AM System.

Many organisations adopt a tick box approach to increasing ‘awareness’ in their personnel, there is quite often no objective set for awareness raising initiatives other than ‘compliance’. IQ-AM believes that the purpose of engendering awareness is to achieve a change in behaviour, i.e. that people need to actually go through a process of assessing and testing what they do, and could do differently, based on enhanced knowledge. We have therefore developed a suite of awareness training programs based on vocational (or competency) based training principles. The different programs are targeted at the different levels and types of responsibilities within an organisation, while retaining a common vertically and horizontally integrated vision of AM.
